FOR USE IN SCHOOLS AND LIBRARIES ONLY. It's summer at the heartwood Hotel, and everyone is in a flurry getting ready for Ms. Prickles' wedding to Mr. Quillson! Meanwhile, a new mouse guest named Strawberry comes to stay. She's sweet and soft-spoken like Mona, and gifted in the kitchen just as Mona's mother was. Could Strawberry be a long lost relative? But when lightning strikes part of Fernwood Forest and starts a fire, all thoughts go to the guests and staff hurrying to leave to make sure their homes and families are safe. Mona works to protect the heartwood from harm, but as the fire rages on, it's becoming dangerous to stay. Can Mona and her friends save their home before it's too late?

    Stephanie Graegin Emily Jenkins

Hardcover (Random House USA Inc, Aug. 16, 2013)
A wonderfully fresh look at a timeless topic, raves "Booklist" in a starred review. A rhythmic text and sweet, accessible images will immerse parents, toddlers, and young children in the summer season and the community within a park. Seasoned picture book readers may notice Emily Jenkins's classic inspirations for this book: Alvin Tresselt's Caldecott Medal-winning "White Snow, Bright Snow, " illustrated by Roger Duvoisin, and Charlotte Zolotow's "The Park Book, " illustrated by H. A. Rey."

    Stephanie Graegin

Library Binding (Schwartz & Wade, Sept. 8, 2020)
Perfect for fans of Erin Stead and Emily Winfield Martin, here is a charming picture book about two friends who enter a fairytale world hoping to find an exciting story to tell. When best friends Fern, a bear, and Otto, a cat, go searching for an exciting story in the forest, they have different ideas about what that means. Fern thinks the three brothers talking about how to build a house is incredibly interesting, but Otto isn't convinced. Along the way, the two friends meet a little girl in red who is off to visit her grandmother (and a wolf headed the same way!); a cranky girl complaining that her porridge isn't the right temperature; and many others. But it's not until they run into a big scary witch that they both can agree that this is not the kind of excitement they had in mind. With irresistible illustrations and tons of charming details, this is a delightful fantasy adventure that proves the best adventures are the ones you share.
